The “Nestalgia” Origin Story

My journey with trading cards began in childhood, filled with days spent collecting and trading with friends, creating nostalgic memories that I cherish to this day. Fast-forward to 2023, after the birth of my son, I decided to rekindle my love for the hobby—this time to share it with my child and pass on the joy of collecting.

I quickly discovered that the trading card hobby of today is light years beyond what it was during my childhood in the 90s. I started buying cards and opening packs again, but it didn't take long to realize that I was burning through money without truly understanding how everyone else was building such incredible collections. It became clear that the simple thrill of getting a few packs in my Christmas stocking had evolved into a complex economy of buying, selling, and trading at a high level of strategy.

As I navigated this new landscape, I saw that the market was tangled in a web of scattered tools and limited data for everyday traders. With my professional background in buying and selling transportation services, I recognized that I could leverage my experience to simplify and improve this process. I saw an opportunity to harness technology to help hobbyists and traders succeed in a market that had become far more complicated—one where the thrill of the trade could be accessible to all.

Inspired by my personal love for collecting and driven to create a better experience for myself and others, I founded Nestalgia—a platform that embodies the nostalgia of childhood while empowering the financial nest egg that allow future generations to collect at the highest level.
